Conceptual projects for GPB preservation and development

The second project initiated within the European Heritage Hub framework “Safeguarding and Developing the Historic Building of the Public Broadcaster” culminated in a public exhibition held on April 17. As part of the awareness-raising campaign, we selected the building of Georgia’s first television station—an important monument of the country’s late modernist period. In addition to its architectural and memorial significance, the building also holds considerable scientific value. Throughout the campaign, we conducted street interviews with local residents and formally addressed the National Agency for Cultural Heritage Preservation of Georgia, requesting the granting of monument status to the building. A key component of the project was a four-day intensive design workshop conducted with architecture students. Seventeen students, divided into three groups, worked on conceptual proposals for the preservation and future development of the historic building. The workshop was led by Levan Kalandarishvili, Ana Gulisashvili, and Giorgi Kiguradze. The final concepts were presented to the interested public in an exhibition format. Participating students were awarded certificates in recognition of their contribution to the project.
