Archaeologist, Cultural Heritage Specialist, GIS (Geographic Information Systems) Specialist, Certified Trekking Guide, and Certified Extreme Caving Guide. He graduated from Ilia State University in 2011 with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Tourism (Major) and a Bachelor’s degree in Archaeology (Minor). He continued his studies at Ilia State University and earned a Master’s degree in Archaeology in 2014.
He worked in the Information Systems Unit of the National Agency for Cultural Heritage Preservation of Georgia from 2014 to 2023. In cooperation with the Directorate of Cultural Heritage of Norway (Riksantikvaren), they developed a database and public portal for Georgia's cultural heritage (https://memkvidreoba.gov.ge/about).
He is the co-author of the guidebook for the “Georgian Cultural Heritage Database Management System and GIS Portal”. He has participated in numerous archaeological expeditions since 2009 and continues to do so today. At various times, he has served as both the head of a group and as a member of working groups dedicated to the registration and documentation of cultural heritage monuments. He has participated in various cultural heritage projects, including the development of the Historical-Cultural Reference Plan, the establishment of General Protection Zones, the formulation of the General Land Use Plan, and other related initiatives. In 2023, he participated in the
volunteer project 'Citizens' Rehabilitation of the Tsiskarauli Tower. From
September 2024, he was elected as the co-chair of the National Trust of
Georgia.
Salome Jashi (born 1981, Tbilisi) is a director of documentary films. She earned a bachelor's degree in Journalism from Tbilisi State University and the Georgian Institute of Public Affairs. She later completed a Master’s degree in Media Art, specialising in documentary filmmaking, at Royal Holloway, University of London.
Salome Jashi's most recent documentary, "Taming the Garden" (2021), was nominated for the European Film Academy Award. The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and the Berlinale Forum. Her previous documentary, "The Dazzling Light of Sunset" (2016), won the main prize for a debut documentary at the prestigious Visions du Réel festival in Switzerland. Another of her works, "Bakhmaro" (2011), was nominated for the Asia-Pacific Screen Award.
She is the co-founder and director of the documentary film association DOCA. Salome Jashi was a fellow of the DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Programme in 2020 and participated in the Nipkow Programme in 2017. She has been honoured with the Berlin Art Prize and the KAIROS Prize for career achievement in the arts. Additionally, she works as a guest consultant for various international training programmes.
